IP Assist (IRAP) ElevateIP IPON
How much is on offer? Consult IRAP for details (depends on the Level). Each startup may receive support of up to $100,000 to develop and implement an IP strategy. Up to $35,000 initial funding with potential future calls up to a maximum of $100,000.
What does it cover? Three stages:

  • Level 1: Awareness
  • Level 2: Strategy
  • Level 3: Action

IP Assist is part of the services IRAP provides to client companies. IRAP has a broad range of services that they tailor and deliver according to a client’s needs.

Eligible activities:

  • Tier 1: IP Awareness and Education
  • Tier 2: Developing IP Strategies
  • Tier 3: Implementing IP Strategies

ElevateIP can help startups build
a customized IP strategy development plan through these three tiers of activities.

Services include IP strategy assessment, IP audits, IP valuation, IP registrations, drafting of NDAs or licenses, IP mentorship, education, and micro-credentials, IP benchmarking, IP patent landscaping reports, and access to a tiger team.

 

Applications are open and reviewed on a rolling basis.

Who is eligible? IP Assist funding is only available to IRAP clients. The following must be met to be an IRAP client:

  • Incorporated and operating in Canada
  • Employ fewer than 500 employees
  • Growing through innovation
  • Accepted by IRAP as a client (competitive application process)
Eligibility criteria varies by province.

 

Criteria may vary regionally, depending on the business accelerators and incubators administering the program in the region.

The following must be met to be eligible for IPON services:

  • Ontario-based SME with fewer than 500 employees, as well as researchers and entrepreneurs
  • Operate in medtech, life sciences, AI, vehicle tech, mining or advanced manufacturing (other sectors added over time)
